Colombo Security Conclave Founding Documents Signed

Mr. Ajit Doval, KC, National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Republic of India visited Colombo from 29-30 August 2024, for the signing of the Founding Documents of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC).

2. Pursuant to the discussions at the 6th NSA level meeting of CSC held in December 2023 in Mauritius, the Charter & Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the CSC Secretariat were signed in Colombo on 30 August 2024 by India, Maldives, Mauritius and Sri Lanka.

3. NSA Mr. Ajit Doval, KC highlighted the significance of the Founding Documents to further bolster CSC's pivotal role in ensuring regional security and stability. Emphasising the role of CSC in ensuring sustained engagement across diverse pillars of cooperation, he stressed the importance of collective efforts in addressing traditional, non-traditional, and emerging hybrid challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.

4. During his visit to Colombo, NSA Mr. Ajit Doval, KC called on H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Sri Lanka and Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. He met his counterparts from CSC member countries including National Security Adviser of Sri Lanka, Hon. Sagala Ratnayaka and National Security Advisor of Maldives, Hon. Ibrahim Latheef. While in Colombo, NSA Mr. Ajit Doval, KC interacted with Leader of Opposition and Leader of Samagi Jana Balawegaya Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Member of Parliament and Leader of National People’s Power Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake as well as political leaders and representatives of various political parties including from the North, East and the upcountry region.
