Assistance in Different Parts of Sri Lanka
Assistant High Commission of India (AHCI), Kandy, on behalf of High Commission of India (HCI), Colombo distributed various humanitarian assistance to the People of Sri Lanka.
- AHCI Kandy on behalf of HCI Colombo distributed 200 umbrellas and raincoats among estate workers and school children at an event at St. Joseph Vaz Church Kadiyanlena in Nawalapitiya. Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Ms. Tushari Jeyasinghe also graced the occasion.
- On the auspicious occasion of Duruthu Poya Day, AHCI Kandy as a goodwill gesture, donated over 50 mattresses to the Pilgrim rest house at Divurumpola Raja Mahaviharaya, Nuwara Eliya.
- As a goodwill gesture, AHCI Kandy handed over 198 roofing sheets along with ridge covers to the disaster affected families in remote locations of Kabaragala estate in Matale. As part of our Thai Pongal celebrations, AHCI Kandy also distributed over 60 school kits to the underprivileged students of Chinmaya Preschool, Ramboda.
- These efforts testify India’s ‘Neighbour First’ policy which places people to people engagement at its centre. The donations are part of Government of India’s ongoing commitment for the well being of the People of Sri Lanka.
