GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. The AHCI, Kandy issues all categories of  visas through the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC), No 675, William Gopallawa Mawatha, Kandy.(Tel. 081-2217404 /  011-2559435/ 011-2559436)
  2. Holders of Diplomatic/Official/Public Affairs passports can apply directly at Visa Section, AHCI, Kandy.
  3. Visa applications must be filled online (www.Indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa)extlink, with complete, proper and verifiable details and the printed form along with required documents may be submitted to IVAC office from 0800 hrs to 1300 hrs on all working days (Monday to Friday except National Hoidays) Incomplete and applications with wrong information is liable to be rejected. Visa will be issued on the next day (between 1600 hrs to 1700 hrs) except for verification cases. The verification cases (Other than Sri Lankan nationals and Sri Lankan nationals working abroad/having duel citizenship) may take a minimum of 72 working hours for issue of visa.
  4. Foreign nationals (Other than Sri Lankans) and Sri Lankans working abroad have to fill additional visa reference form given in VI. The forms can be collected from IVAC also.
  5. Nationals other than Sri Lankans applying for Business or any other long term visa needs to be a resident in the jurisdiction of AHCI, Kandy for a period of at least two years.
  6. Photo affixed on the application should be a recent colour photo (2 inch x 2 inch (51 mm x 51 mm) in size) with frontal view (both ears visible) in white background.
  7. Issue of visa is the prerogative of Government of India and not the right of the applicant. Visa Fee is non-refundable in case visa is NOT issued due to any reason.
  8. Acceptance of application form does not necessarily mean grant of visa. 
  9. Please check the visa for correctness before travelling to  India.
  10. Granting of the visa does not confer right of entry to  India as it is subject to immigration clearance.
  11. The AHCI reserves the right of granting and deciding type of visa / duration of visa / number of entries, irrespective of the fees tendered.
  12. Previous passports, Passports of other nationalities if any, Green Card etc. should be produced in original and copies should be attached with application.
  13.  IVAC provides visa application support service only and they are not responsible for actual issue of visa.
  14. All applicants are required to possess a valid travel document, either National Passport/ Emergency Certificate, with minimum 6 months validity at the time of applying for the visa.
  15. Electronic Tourist Visa (e-TV)

    The Government of India launched the Electronic Tourist Visa (e-TV) Scheme on 27th November 2014 for 43 countries which has been extended to include Sri Lanka w.e.f. 01/04/2015. A dedicated website has been launched for this purpose. The citizens of Sri Lanka can apply online for tourist visas (twice a year, each visit not exceeding 30 days, visa duration non-extendable except in the event of medical emergencies) which shall be granted within 72 hours through email. The purpose of visit may range from tourism, casual business visit, short term medical treatment and to meet friends and relatives. Sri Lankan nationals travelling to India through designated 24 International airports and 4 Ports will be given permission to enter only on production of print out of the email approval. The e-TV scheme entails capture of biometric data of the visitor on arrival at the airport.
