INDIAN COMMUNITY WELFARE FUND

Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) was established vide Order dated 12th of October 2009 in 17 ECR countries &Maldives which has been extended up to 157 countries including Sri Lanka on 24th of March, 2011. The Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) is aimed to assist distressed Overseas Indian nationals in the most deserving cases under the following circumstances:

1. Boarding & lodging for distressed Overseas Indian (OI) workers in household/domestic sectors & unskilled laborers – max 30 days.

2. Emergency medical care.

3. Initial legal help in deserving cases.

4. Air passage to standard OIs.

5. Incidentals & airlifting of mortal remains to India or local cremation/burial of deceased OIs.

6. Penalties for illegal stay of OI s in host country where worker is not at fault

7. Small fines/penalties for release of OIs in jail/detention center

8. Support to OIs Assns to establish Indian Community center where OIs population exceeds 100,000.

9. Support to start and run Indian Community-based student welfare centers – if there are more than 20,000 Indian students.
