International Women’s Day Celebration

As part of celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, the Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy organised Yoga session at University of Peradeniya, Kandy with the theme: For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. The event had participation of more than 200 students from the university.

2. Assistant High Commissioner, Ms. Saranya V.S., Vice Chancellor of University of Peradeniya, Professor Terrence Madhujith, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Mr. Prof. R.W. Pallegama, deans of respective faculties, academic and non-academic staff, and students of the University attended the event.

3. Addressing the gathering, AHC Saranya V.S. highlighted the relevance of women empowerment and gender neutrality. She also talked about the achievements of women in various sectors of society while also reflecting on the challenges they continue to face in day-to-day life. Vice Chancellor also gave insights on women’s overall well being & physical fitness and urged to promote awareness for engaging in daily physical activity and staying fit.
