Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children for the academic year 2017-18
Government of India is implementing a scheme called “Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children [SPDC]” since 2006-07. Under this scheme, assistance is provided to the Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indian (NRIs) for pursuing Undergraduate courses in Indian Universities/Institutes.
2. Under this scheme 150 scholarships are granted to the students from the countries having substantial Indian Diaspora population, for the courses in different fields (except Medical and related courses) both professional and non-professional in Engineering/Technology, Humanities/Liberal Arts, Commerce, Management, Journalism, Hotel Management, Agriculture/Animal husbandary etc.
3. This scheme is applicable to the following four categories:
Children of Persons of Indian Origin
Children of Non-Resident Indians
Children of Indian workers working in ECR countries studying abroad
Children of Indian workers in ECR countries – studying in India
4. The online portal for the scheme is www.spdcindia.gov.in and it has been decided to extend the deadline for submission of forms to 31st October 2017.
