Pravasi Bharatiya Divas – 2023 celebrations

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a day dedicated to the overseas Indian Community. It is a flagship event of the Government of India and provides an important platform to engage and connect with the overseas Diaspora.

2. The theme of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas – 2023 is “Diaspora: Reliable partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal”. The 17^th PBD Convention was organised in Indore wherein five plenary sessions for the diaspora were organised. Thiru Sivakumar Nadesan, Managing Director of Express Newspapers was conferred with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA), 2023. PBSA is the highest honour conferred by Govt. of India on members of the Indian diaspora.

3. Celebrating the 17^th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy organised an event on 31^st January 2023 at Suisse Hotel, Kandy with Indian origin diaspora leaders, entrepreneurs and prominent people of Indian Origin.

4. Dr. Athira S., Assistant High Commissioner of India in Kandy welcomed the guests. Glimpses of 17^th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention held in Indore from 08-10 January, 2023 was screened. Speakers Mr. Durai Mathi Yugarajah and Mr. Muthiah Srikanthan thanked India for the developmental assistance to Sri Lanka, especially upcountry region. They congratulated AHCI Kandy for 100 years of its establishment.

5. Officials of Assistant High Commission of India and members of Indian Origin Community had a fruitful interaction.
