Plaque unveiling Ceremony of Annapurna Certificate-2023 at Balaji Dosai, Kandy

1. The Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy organized plaque unveiling Ceremony of Annapurna Certificate-2023 at Balaji Dosai in Kandy on November 30, 2023. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has chosen six restaurants across the globe for Annapurna Certificate 2023. Balaji Dosai is chosen for the Annapurna Certificate 2023 for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of Indian cuisine & culinary heritage abroad.

2. After unveiling the plaque, Assistant High Commissioner, Dr. Athira S. stressed the significance of Annapurna Certificate 2023. Chief Secretary, Central Province, Mr. G.H.M. Premasinghe, District Secretary, Mr. Chandana Tennekoon, Municipal Commissioner, Mr. Ishan Wijethilake, Director – Department of Trade, Commerce & Tourism Mr. Mihiran Bandara, Provincial Director of Culture, Ms. Ayomi Dulwala, officials from GoSL, Kandy Tamil Traders Association members, President of the Kandy Hoteliers' Association, Mr. Rodney Armstrong, Media persons, food lovers and staff of AHCI were present at the event.

3. An award conferring ceremony will be held by ICCR in New Delhi on December 12, 2023 in which the owner of M/S Balaji Dosai, Kandy, Mr. K. Yogarajah and the main chef of the restaurant Mr. Parameswaran Venkatasalam will be awarded.
