Release of Commemorative Postal Stamp of AHCI Kandy and other financial assistance

A special event ‘A Century of Togetherness’ was organized by Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy as a part of centenary celebration on 07th December 2023 at The Golden Crown Hotel, Kandy. Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy in collaboration with the Department of Posts, Sri Lanka released Commemorative Postal Stamp of 100 years of its establishment in the presence H.E. Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, H.E. Lalith U. Gamage Hon’ble Governor of Central Province, H.E. A.J.M. Muzammil Hon’ble Governor of Uva Province, Hon. A. Aravindh Kumar, State Minister of Education, M. Velu Kumar, Member of Parliament, Uruwarige Wannila Aththo, Chief of ‘Vedda’, Dr. Athira S. Assistant High Commissioner of India, Kandy.

  1. 2. District toppers in Sinhala and Tamil medium of Grade V Scholarship Examination 2023 in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya,  Matale, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Badulla, and Kurunegala were facilitated on the occasion. Also Island wide topper of  GCE O’ Level Examination 2022, Ms. Samadhi Anuradha Ranawaka from  Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy was awarded a cash prize.
  1. 3. IT assistance extended to the Indigenous Heritage Museum, Dambana from High Commission of India was handed over jointly by High Commissioner H.E. Gopal Baglay and Governor of Uva Province H.E. A.J.M. Muzammil to Uruwarige Wannila Aththo.
  1. 4. Assistance for sports infrastructure in North Western Provincial Council was handed over to Ms. Dharanee Upeka Weerasekara, Director, Department of Sports, North Western Province and Cricket Kits & Assistance for construction of Cricket nets were distributed to Wickneshwara Science College, Panwila, Kandy and St. Maries Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, Yatiyantota.
  1. 5. Medical Assistance was jointly extended by High Commissioner H.E. Gopal Baglay & Governor of Central Province H.E. Lalith U Gamage to Ayurveda Commissioner of Central Province for conducting Ayurvedic medical camps in Central Province. Essential Medical equipments for the medical center of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka were handed over by the High Commissioner during the event.
  1. 6. His Excellency Lalith U. Gamage, Hon’ble Governor of Central Province, His Excellency A.J.M. Muzammil, Hon’ble Governor of Uva Province, Hon. A. Aravindh Kumar, State Minister of Education, Hon’ble M. Velu Kumar, MP, Mr. D.A. Rajitha K. Ranasinghe, Deputy Postmaster General, Department of Posts, Dr. Athira S., Assistant High Commissioner, AHCI Kandy, Vishwakeerti Sri Vanaspati Uruwarige Wannila Aththo, Mr. Ajith Premasinghe, Chief Secretary of Central Province, Ms. Damayanthi Paranagama, Chief Secretary of Uva Province, Senior Govt. Officials, members of Indian Origin Tamil community, former staff of AHCI Kandy were present on the occasion. Over 250 people attended the event and around 30 joined online.
