75th Republic Day of India Celebration.
The 75th Republic Day of India was celebrated on Friday on 26th January 2024 at India House (the residence of the Assistant High Commissioner of India) in Kandy. On this day, the world’s largest constitution came into force. The morning function commenced with unfurling of the National flag of India at 08:15 AM and reading out of special message of Hon’ble President of India by Assistant High Commissioner, Dr. Athira S. Members of Indian diaspora, media fraternity, friends of India and staff members participated on the occasion.
- 2. On the same day in the evening, AHC hosted a ceremonial reception at Karaliya Convention Centre, Kandy to mark the 75th Republic Day of India. The reception was attended by distinguished dignitaries including Governor of Central Province His Excellency Lalith U. Gamage, Hon’ble Diyawadana Nilame Dr. Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara, Hon’ble MP Palani Digambaram, Hon’ble MP Udaya Kumar, Senior Government Officials, friends of India and Indian diaspora.
- 3. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Governor H. E. Lalith U. Gamage congratulated India on the 75th Republic Day and highlighted the commitment to strengthen the bond between India and Sri Lanka. He also stressed the countless human connections that bind families and communities.
- 4. Adding classical rhythm to the evening, a cultural performance “Sringar – Tapestry of Classical Indian Dance Forms” was organized at Karaliya Convention Center, Kandy. The cultural performance was led by Ms. Namrata Mehta and group. Around 800 dance lovers were present to watch Sringar, the first of its kind in Karaliya, Kandy.
