76th Republic Day of India

The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated on Sunday, 26th January 2025 at Assistant High Commission of India in Kandy. The celebration commenced with unfurling of the National flag of India at 08:00 AM and reading out of the message of Hon’ble President of India by Assistant High Commissioner, Ms. Saranya V. S.. The event was attended by religious leaders & members of the Indian community.

2. On the same day in the evening, AHCI hosted a ceremonial reception to mark the 76th Republic Day of India. Hon’ble Governor of Central Province H.E. Prof. Sarath Abeykoon attended the event as the Chief Guest. Several other dignitaries participated in the event.

3. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Governor H.E. Prof. Sarath Abeykoon congratulated India on the 76th Republic Day and praised the vision and dedication of the framers who laid the foundation for a strong and inclusive democracy. He also emphasized the enduring bond between India and Sri Lanka, expressing confidence that the bilateral relations between the two neighbouring nations would continue to grow and flourish in the years to come.

4. The event featured cultural performances of the Lehja Dance troupe and Kalasamarpana Nruthyakshetra Dance group which brought out India’s rich cultural diversity & heritage. The graceful and captivating music performance by Mr. Divahar Selvaratnam, Sr. Clerk and Mrs. Jenitha Jeyapragash, Sr. Clerk mesmerised the guests on the occasion.
